We get it. This is a relatively new concept and you’ve got more questions. Check out our comprehensive FAQ. We find the best way to get your questions answered though is to make a time to chat with one of our onboarding team.
English is an official language in the Philippines (they are the fourth largest English-speaking country in the world!) giving them a considerable advantage in the outsourcing industry. Additionally, the education system is set up similar to the US and Australia, with a focus on higher education and an organized system of degrees and skill levels. The Philippine public and private university system combined produces almost 700,000 graduates per year, with many graduates focused on technical areas such as degrees in computer science and programming. At least 50% of total graduates obtained degrees in business administration, marketing/communications, and other commercial areas.
Very simply, there is a huge amount of work that goes into sourcing quality offshore staff. Once a candidate is identified, we complete reference checks, English proficiency tests, and ensure that they have the qualifications needed for the role. We then continue to streamline the process for you by handling payroll and HR requirements.
Our highly trained recruitment team has access to large resume databases and advertises across several major publications, as well as through our job seeker network of pre-screened candidates. We have built a reputation amongst candidates for placing them with high-quality offshore companies and ensuring their wellbeing. Our process ensures that you are only interviewing candidates who possess the right skill set for your role, and who perform at a high capacity.
With a talent pool of millions of qualified, experienced Filipinos that have worked for foreign businesses like yours, and a mature, thriving outsourcing market in the Philippines – that’s unlikely. We won’t stop until we find you the right fit for your business. Still, if you don’t find the right person, you don’t hire.
You are only required to pay for hours worked, as there is no obligation to pay sick days or holidays. However, if you would like to provide compensation to staff for time off, you are welcome to do so at your discretion.
We do not provide phone systems or dialers for staff. However, your assigned recruiter is happy to provide extra information about different VoIP services (voice over Internet protocol), all of which are easy to set up.
The Philippines is only 2 hours behind AEST so the timezone line up quite well. They will work what ever hours you need them to work, be that office hours, after hours or weekends. Full-time staff typically work 9 hours with a 1-hour lunch break, and part-time staff work 4 hours per day or 2-3 days per week.
Allow at least 3 days to sign and return the Client Services Agreement and direct debit or credit card form. Once we have received these forms, we will set up the staff’s software so they are ready for their first shift.
Unfortunately, we do not recruit for project-based work at this time. Our business model is geared toward long-term engagements. All of our staff work part-time (at least 20 hours per week) or full-time.
It is not uncommon for daily commutes to last up to 3 hours in the Philippines. Working from home eliminates this loss of time and lends to a fresh mind at the beginning of each shift.
The worker is required to have a quiet place to work, typically a separate room within their house. They must also have a reliable DSL Internet connection and an up-to-date computer.
You’re in luck. Our management team has inducted hundreds of people in their own prior businesses, and at Online Helpers. We also have some of the country’s leading HR talent on our team to help guide everyone through the process. It’s all part of our end to end service for each and every client.
Maintain open lines of communication and treat your staff as though they are in the same office. Check-in with each other regularly through chat, video, and phone calls. Establishing regular team catchups and discussing bigger business goals will keep your staff motivated.
You will fully manage your team day to day, just as you would your team locally. They adhere to your policies and guidelines. We provide the HR support and payroll, operations, IT & facilities support – but they work on the task and duties that you assign to them.
The same way you know your staff are working in your local office – they’re hitting their KPIs, delivering on their outcomes and doing a good job. With remote workers, it’s best to focus on the outcomes, their general performance and responsiveness day to day.
When you focus on outcomes, you build a trusted relationship with your employee which contributes to their loyalty and tenure.
Still, some employers that may not yet be comfortable with today’s remote working model, we do have clock on & off tools so we can always tell when the staff are working. Online Helpers also does have software that can be installed upon request, that monitors everything done on that PC. If you insist on this approach, we recommend you do it for a very short period of time and move to a trust and outcome based model as soon as possible.
Despite all the tests, screening and interviews this can happen on the rare occasion – just like it can locally. For whatever reason – if your new hire isn’t performing as expected or required, Online Helpers provides a Guarantee that we will replace them for you at no extra cost within the first 2 months of their hire and you will get 2 weeks free labour to get back up to speed.
Your account manager is your central point of contact and will help you with any issues that may arise.
All staff members are on a probationary period within the first 6 months of work, during which time you are able to terminate them by providing 48 hours notice. After six months, 14 days notice is required to terminate.
Your first invoice is for all remaining workdays in the month that you start. This must be paid prior to your staff’s start-date. After that, on the 1st of each month you will receive an invoice for 1 month in advance, with adjustments for actual hours worked in the previous month. Your credit card will automatically be charged on the 5th of each month. As you can appreciate, it is very important that all contractors are paid on time.
Companies located in Australia or New Zealand will be billing in Australian Dollars (AUD). If you are located in the United States, Canada or anywhere else globally you will be billed in US Dollars (USD).
We accept both Visa and Mastercard. There are NO surcharges for using credit cards. Australian customers also have the option of using automatic direct debit.
It is up to you if you would like to require your staff to work during public holidays, but some staff may request time-off during their public holidays in the Philippines.
Contrary to the perception of businesses not engaging in outsourcing, many business that have embraced outsourcing have experienced affordable growth. Thus, they’re employing more, not fewer, local workers.
